Running Analysis & Assessment

A comprehensive running assessment with our trained physiotherapists will take your running to the next level. Address long standing pain and issues by simply seeing how you run. Gain advice on how to improve your running gait, which shoes to wear and how frequently you should run to optimise your fitness and enjoyment.

Do your injuries flare up when you run? Do you rest for a few weeks, hoping that your injury will recover, only to have it flare again when you return to the road or trail, track or treadmill?

Often, there’s a fault in your running biomechanics. You may be too much of a heel striker. Your cadence may be too slow, your running posture too upright. Landing on a straight (extended) knee can cause knee pain. If your knee collapses inwards as your heel strike, you may be compressing the structures in your hip, knee or ankle.

At BRH Physios we can perform a detailed running analysis, to assess your running faults. We then give you valuable “cues” so that you can correct, retrain and return to running injury free.

Often there’s an added bonus in that these running corrections improve your overall performance too!

A running assessment offers insights into your running technique, identifying biomechanical imbalances, weaknesses, and inefficiencies that could lead to injury. It helps optimise your form, performance, and enjoyment while reducing the risk of overuse injuries.

The frequency of running assessments depends on individual factors such as training intensity, injury history, and goals. As a general guideline, consider scheduling a running assessment annually or whenever significant changes occur in your training regimen or biomechanics. Regular assessments help track progress, address emerging issues, and fine-tune your running technique.

Wear comfortable gym clothes to the assessment and wear the running shoes you run in most often. Bring any other running shoes with you that you may wear as well.

The physio is likely to record and assess you running on a treadmill.
